Dear Yuletide Author (2017)

Dear Author,

I'm so excited that we matched! I already know it will be lovely to have a new fic to read in one of these fandoms. I loved experiencing these worlds the first time through, and I'm hoping to receive a fic that lets me see a little more: some hidden backstory brought to light, an understated or underexplored relationship fleshed out, an adventure the side characters went on while the spotlight was somewhere else, etc.

A lot of my prompts this time around seem to deal with unusual relationships: perhaps they might not seem like they should get along, perhaps there's a huge difference between them in power or station, perhaps they were recently enemies and sought to harm each other. In general, my favorite relationships have to do with loyalty, understanding, maybe unexpected kindness.

In addition to character and relationship exploration, I love adventures too! I'd be delighted to see these characters tackling some quest, epic or domestic, acquiring new skills, or helping each other out in some way. (I'm kind of a sucker for modern AUs too, especially ones where the characters' original personalities really shine through.)

And of course, please don't feel the need to stick too closely to the prompts provided. Please go wherever inspiration takes you! The only thing I'm not looking for is PWP.

On to specific prompts:

Noblesse
Any

  • I'm dying to find out what M-21's connection is with Muzaka. He's definitely part werewolf - how did that happen? Could he really have been implanted with some part of Ashleen, as fan theories suspect?

  • I'm also interested in M-21 adjusting to life with Rai and Frankenstein. His only other memories to compare with are of living with the Union. In some ways, it should be similar: Frankenstein is also a man of science, and he's way more terrifying than any of the Union doctors. And yet, it's not the same.

Nirvana in Fire
Consort Jing & Grand Princess Liyang

  • I love Consort Jing. It must have been a big adjustment for her to go from doctor to concubine. I'd like to see a story about Liyang being a friend and a help to her in those times.

  • How did Jing know about Liyang's past with Qing Si Rao? Perhaps Liyang confided in her as a friend, or perhaps Jing was there as a doctor. Perhaps Liyang continued to confide in Jing about other things, like the circumstances of Jingrui's birth. Maybe Jing was even able to help out in some way.

Zero Escape
Dio & Luna

Full disclosure, I've only played Virtue's Last Reward, which is why I made sure to pick characters that only show up in that game (I think). They also happen to be my favorite!

WARNING: spoilers for Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward! Highlight to read.

Dio, the smarmy asshole who I kept hoping would turn out to be a jerk with a heart of gold, but actually turned out to be a jerk with a heart of jerk... and a religious fanatic clone, at that. Luna, the adorable sweetheart that I kept thinking might be evil but turned out to be an even more adorable robot... Together, they fight crime!

I wanted a lot more of them than we got in the game itself, more backstory, more introspection and, if possible, more interaction. Perhaps one of their many timelines in the Nonary Game together. Perhaps a bad ending where they failed to escape, and are living out the rest of their lives in the base. Perhaps they find some common ground as a clone/robot - modeled after someone else, constructed rather than born, made to serve some purpose. Perhaps they make their own puzzles to pass the time.

Here's one idea: Luna is falling apart, literally, and Dio doesn't exactly want to help, but he has to or [he can't finish the room]/[everyone else will vote him off the island]/[he'll be alone in this sealed base for the rest of his life]. Good thing doing all these puzzles has made him so damn good at putting things back together.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Sonya & Celica

  • I'm interested in their meeting. Sonya just watched this child cut down Deen and his men, and must expect that she'll be under attack next (and, if not for a quirk of fate, the army marching North instead of South, she would've been). How did Sonya wind up joining Celica's cause instead?

  • Sonya's father, Jedah, offered her dear sisters' souls up to Duma. How does she feel when, at the end of their journey together, she finds out that Celica is intent on meeting same fate, and at Jedah's hands again?
